Organization's Mission:
Dream Big! That is what we inspire young people to do: to visualize and reach their full potential, thereby leading our community to be the best it can be, for everyone! This is at the heart of what we do at UnidosNow: empower the growing but underrepresented community of first-generation, low-income Latino students and their families, from elementary through high school, to college and beyond, through education, integration, and civic engagement.

Internship Description:
The internship provides an exciting opportunity for a student to gain experience in relevant aspects of nonprofit operations, project management, education, and communications by having a key role in the Future Leaders Academy (FLA)
program and the UnidosNow high school clubs.

FLA is a year-round program that was launched in 2013 to identify and support low-income Latino students with the potential to gain admission to, and graduate from, their best-fit and best-value colleges. UnidosNow provides those students with access to a wide range of college prep services, including career exploration, leadership skills development, college selection, college applications, college essays, résumés, financial aid, college tours, ACT prep, and individual mentoring. Our multigenerational approach engages the whole family by providing workshops in English and Spanish for parents and siblings on topics such as college selection, financial aid, and financial literacy. The program also includes a Career Readiness Track to help vulnerable Latino youth graduate from high school and make informed career plans, by helping them access various entry points to economic mobility such as 2-year colleges and technical colleges.

UnidosNow high school clubs serve as the trusted forum, and a safe space, where students and their parents feel accepted, included, and engaged. The clubs offer students opportunities to hone their leadership skills, learn about different careers, participate in community service activities, and explore financial aid resources including FAFSA and scholarships.

The intern will work closely with the Program Director and the Education Manager to accomplish the following:

Future Leaders Academy
- Collaborate in the planning and delivery of workshops for students and parents.
- Conduct research to identify areas of improvement in the program.
- Assist in the creation of educational material and marketing collateral.
- Provide personalized support to program participants as they work on
self-assessments, college searches, and college applications.

High School Clubs
- Assist in the facilitation of club meetings.
- Manage the clubs' social media presence.
- Develop strategies to improve recruitment.

The intern will also have the opportunity to assist with other programs such as the monthly Community Workshops and the College Completion program that supports UnidosNow alumni who are currently in college. Additionally, the intern will have access to other learning opportunities including grant writing and volunteer management.

Learning Objectives:
- Increase their cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Gain an understanding of the impact that local nonprofit organizations have on the community.
- Gain insight into "the big picture" of the nonprofit world and the role that different stakeholders have in the organization.
- Hone their creative thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Acquire systems thinking skills.

Qualifications:
