CreArte Latino Cultural Center: Intern - flexible based on student interest (PAID Fall 2021 SMAH Internship)

Fall 2021 SMAH Non-Profit Management/Marketing Intern

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND THOROUGHLY: This paid internship position is a part of the Fall 2021 Sarasota-Manatee Arts & Humanities (SMAH) Internship Program, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant and private donors to New College of Florida. Thus, this internship has certain expectations per the funding and program requirements.

  1. The SMAH internships are for CURRENT New College students and will be expected to be completed for academic credit. The student selected for this internship must find a faculty sponsor and create/add a full-term tutorial (select "internship" as the objective) to their Fall 2021 academic contract.   2. Students selected for SMAH internships must review and complete a Student Intern Agreement Form, which details program expectations. Fall 2021 interns will receive an updated electronic fillable agreement form once they have been offered an internship. Please review the attachment as a past example, so that you are aware of the expectations.

Internship Description:
This internship is flexible based on the student's interest including, but not limited to, areas related to arts/non-profit management and marketing. There are also potential internship projects related to Spanish language translation, playwriting, and music.

An intern with interest in Non-Profit Management would participate in activities related primarily to office administration. Responsibilities would include:
  • build a database of donors, prospects, and guests
  • review existing ticketing system and make a written report of alternatives
  • provide ticket purchase and phone support (box office for all events including workshops)
  • provide support in preparing a 2022 budget draft using Excel
  • provide ticket sale, registration, and other data from web site for tracking
  • co-facilitate some workshops

An intern with interest in Marketing would participate in activities related to publicity, promotions, and communication. Responsibilities would include:
  • prepare social media content and communications with patrons and donors 
  • design and produce digital and printable promotional materials  
  • assist with private tours of the facility 
  • assist in web site design and development
  • assist Fundraising in building a donor outreach program 
  • prepare post event surveys

Qualifications:
  • Strong interest in performance art, non-profit management, community outreach, and bilingual education. 
  • Strong interest in cross cultural experiences
  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities. 
  • Confident enough to make recommendations supported by research and careful analysis.
  • The Marketing intern should be proficient in using computer software to create marketing materials and be comfortable translating web posts and articles.
  • The Non-Profit Management intern should be proficient in using computer software and in learning new software such as our WIX-based ticketing system.
  • Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets to support reporting is preferred.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish preferred.

We anticipate that the intern will be at our center for performances, tours, workshops, meetings, and setup/teardown in which they are involved. All other work can be done offsite with computer access and a smart phone.
